WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR DEC. 25
Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends, we're so glad you could attend, come inside, come inside! There behind a glass stands a real blade of grass; be careful as you pass, move along, move along. Come inside, the show's about to start, guaranteed to blow your head apart! Rest assured you'll get your money's worth, greatest show in Heaven, Hell or Earth! You've got to see the show, it's a dynamo; you've got to see the show, but if you can't, I'll liveblog this bad boy for you right here, folks.
The show opens with John Cena making his return to Raw!
He stops himself short before gifting a child in the crowd with the literal shirt and hat off his back. He wishes Chicago a merry Christmas and mentions that it's the first time Raw has ever been live on Christmas. He loves the holidays, but wherever he goes and whatever he does, the WWE Universe is his family, and he wants to give cheers to the good times and to the bad times, but especially to a day like today when we can all be together.
John can't think of a better place to tell us--
Enter Elias. He asks Cena if he knows what WWE stands for, and says that it's "walk with Elias", which even John gives a little "yeah, that's clever" nod to. The Drifter asks who wants to walk with him and the crowd's into it so Cena says he'll walk. Elias says for months he's been interrupted and he's sick of it, so he figured he'd come out here and do the interrupting-- which the crowd interrupts with "CM Punk" chants and Samson says for damn sure Punk ain't gonna interrupt him!
Cena says it's holidays, Chicago loves their fellow Chicago...eans, let 'em have some fun! Elias says he's gonna perform uninterrupted and John goes to offer him some advice, but the Drifter keeps on cutting him off and it goes a bit Looney Tunes for a second ending with Elias having a finger on Cena's mouth and shushing him. John gets him a stool and lets the maestro begin.
The Drifter sings us a Christmas song... about how terrible Chicago is, and Cena cuts him off mid-way through, demanding the lights go up. He says he was trying to tell him not to say anything bad about Chicago, it's not a bad place, people are dressed for the occasion, excited, making noise, and Samson plays okay but every song gets to a point where he calls the audience jerks.
Elias says he speaks the truth and Cena says they're not the jerks, it's the Drifter who is the jerk. Elias admits that maybe he is a jerk and says he wants to do the song again if Chicago would give him a second chance. John reminds him of what he just said and that Chicago is a very tough city but it's Christmas, so hit it one more time.
He starts up again and this time it is in fact about how nice Chicago is, and he invites Cena to join in. John starts singing a few bars... AND ELIAS PUNCHES HIM IN THE FACE AND KNOCKS HIM OUT COLD! Samson says he doesn't play for anyone else, Christmas is overrated and so is Chicago! Elias puts boots to him for good measure and says Santa didn't come for him so he's challenging Cena to match here and now!
Referee John Cone comes down as Cena starts to recover and we have a match!
Elias vs. John Cena
Elias right on Cena, hammering forearms, big elbow drop, kicks in the corner, another big right knocks him back down again! Drawing John up but he fires haymakers off, gets some separation, hip toss, side headlock takeover and he's got the Drifter grounded! The Drifter breaks out and knocks Cena to the apron, smashing his face into the corner of the ring and following it up with a knee trembler!
Big chop, back inside, release bodyslam, Elias gets two off the cover. Another release slam, another cover but only one this time, hanging him up in the Tree of Woe for some stomps and heading up top for the double stomp... NOPE! Kneeling armbar, trying to keep the 16-time world champion down but Cena gets right to his feet and breaks with a kick to the midsection.
Whip across, Samson is a step ahead, boot up in the corner, back to the Tree of Woe, again climbing up top but this time John swings out of the way and comes right back at him with a huge lariat to lay him out! Trading punches square in the middle of the ring, both men running low, Elias hits a wicked Blue Thunder Driver-style backbreaker! Drawing Cena up, right hands knock him back down and he backs, gasping, into the ropes to find that extra level of his.
Punches and kicks in the corner, the Drifter pummeling him, headed up top again, pulling Cena up with him but John counters, fireman's carry, Samson slips out and under into the electric chair and spins him out into a powerbomb... NOT ENOUGH! John ended up outside off that, fighting his way back in, Elias right on him with the cover but it's only two and he goes to a reverse chinlock after.
Rolling through into the middle of the ring to keep him down, shifting to a side headlock as Cena posts to a knee and then to his feet, he HOSSES the hold over his head, off the ropes, the shoulder blocks connect, hand in the air... and Elias rolls to the floor. John comes around the corner, rolls him back in and gets levelled with a lariat and a nearfall as Samson shifts the tide again!
Backbreaker follows it up, another nearfall, and another backbreaker for good measure as Elias becomes frustrated, wondering what it'll take to put John Cena away. A third backbreaker sees Cena pick the leg and lock the STF on! Reaching, crawling, the Drifter nearly gets the ropes but John goes to reposition and he kicks him away! A running knee lands flush on Cena's forehead but his momentum takes him to the apron!
Right hands over the ropes, John with a shoulder thrust, slingshot sunset flip, roll through and right back into the STF! Elias makes the ropes but Cena stays on him, standing him up, whip reversed, the Drifter shifts his positioning a few times... ROLLING CUTTER! NOPE! Big standing elbow drop, another, John is down and out on the mat but gets a sunset flip off for a nearfall!
Shoulder blocks, fall-forward Blue Thunder Driver, "You can't see me!", Five Knuckle Shuffle, fireman's carry...
John Cena wins by pinfall with the Attitude Adjustment.
We get a Samoa Joe video package next.
Backstage, Kurt Angle is decorating a Christmas tree when Jason Jordan rolls up on him. They hug and Angle says he did want to see Jordan. Seth Rollins rolls up and says he wants Samoa Joe tonight. After he put Dean Ambrose on the shelf last week, he needs this match. Jason says that he wants the match and they bicker, which leads to Angle saying every time they get close to Joe, the Bar get in the way.
Rollins scoffs at the idea of teaming with Jordan after what happened last week, and Jason says he's not the one who got his head kicked in and lost. But he just got out of a tag team and he doesn't want to move backwards, which gets Seth hot and he goes to call him arrogant. Angle says if they can work together they'll be unstoppable, and they've gotta figure it out soon, because their match is for the title, merry Christmas.
Roman Reigns rolls up and Kurt says Samoa Joe is all his, but it's an Intercontinental Championship match.
Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher are being interviewed in the ring.
Kendrick mocks all the hype Hideo Itami has been brought to the main roster with and says he's a former champion so he wanted to find out if Itami belongs here or if he's just a passing fad.
Brian Kendrick vs. Hideo Itami
Collar and elbow, Kendrick right in with a knee lift and clubs but Itami throws a forearm and turns it into a series. Off the ropes, big knee to the gut, Penalty Kicks to front and back, scoop slap and another Penalty Kick to the back as Hideo yells to demand respect. Gallagher running interference, Brian with a big knee that gets a nearfall, crossface strikes from the back, drawing him up and backing him into the corner with a chop.
Hard whip, choke in the corner, butterfly suplex, another nearfall and into a Japanese stranglehold but Itami's able to fight to his feet and break with elbows. Cravate into the turnbuckles, Kendrick trying to keep his lead but boots up on the charge and Hideo hits the tornado DDT over the ropes! Perched up top, diving lariat, strikes into a fisherman buster!
Short KENTA Rush sets up the hesitation dropkick, Itami's fired up and takes his knee pad down, slashes his throat, fireman's carry...
Hideo Itami wins by pinfall with the Go 2 Sleep.
Up next, a video package about the announcement of the first-ever women's Royal Rumble match.
Bayley, Mickie James, and Sasha Banks are walking backstage when they run into the Miztourage, who wish them a merry Mizmas. They know everybody's upset Miz is off making movies, so they're spreading Mizmas cheer! They sing some Mizmas carols and much Mizmas cheer was indeed spread.
Absolution (Mandy Rose, Paige, & Sonya Deville) vs. Bayley, Mickie James, & Sasha Banks
Paige and Sasha to start, Paige ducks the lockup and taunts but Banks gets a handful of hair! Paige swats her away and tags Rose in, O'Connor roll from the Boss, off the ropes, leapfrog, dropkick, arm wringer, tag to James. Mickie off the top with a double axehandle to the arm, short-arm shoulder blocks into a leg drop armbreaker, only good for two.
Arm wringer to an armbar, Mandy knees her to break, misses a lariat, rolling solebutt to another kick, elbow smash off the ropes, only two! Front chancery, tag to Bayley, snapmare, off the ropes with a boot, sliding elbow from the Hugger, again just a nearfall. Rose gets her over to her corner, tag to Deville, in with waistlock takeovers, shin kicks to the side of the head but Bayley catches the third!
Back to their corner, tag to Banks, double suplex, off the ropes, sliding knees, cover can't do it. Yanking her away, Sonya holds onto the ropes, Mandy runs interference and Deville heads to the floor where she clobbers Sasha with a lariat when she follows! Back in, tag to Paige, knee strike into boots in the corner and they run a quick tag to Rose.
Forearms, choke over the ropes, arm wringer into an arm-trap cravate abdominal stretch! Sasha counters into a pin! Reaching for the tag, denied, big elbow gets two and a tag to Deville follows. Bodyscissors applied, using chinlocks and crossfaces alternately to keep the Boss off her balance but she's eventually able to fight to her feet and back Sonya into the corner.
But Deville keeps her wits about her and tags Paige in, double wristlock with her feet on the hair and then a reverse chinlock. Rights and lefts, Paige explodes out of the hold with a lariat to knock Banks down and tags Mandy in. Hard whip, WICKED knee strike... NOPE! Back to the cravate abdominal stretch, Sasha is able to sling her away but Rose faceplants her when she goes for the tag!
One last shot, the Boss bodily throws Mandy into her teammates and crawls... tags made! Bayley in like a house afire, forearm smashes, side headlock takedown into mounted punches, Saito suplex, shoulder thrusts in the corner, back roll into the tube man elbow but Paige sidesteps! Knocking Deville off, Bayley-to-Belly... SONYA YANKS PAIGE OUT OF THE RING!
All-out chaos outside the ring, Paige runs into the stunner over the middle rope! Bayley heads up top, Paige kicks the middle rope out and hoists the Hugger up...
Absolution win by pinfall with Rampaige from Paige on Bayley.
We get a recap of the attack on Dean Ambrose from last week that feeds into a backstage interview with Samoa Joe.
He says he has absolutely no remorse over attacking Ambrose, after all now he can spend the holidays with his loved ones! And furthermore his actions gave him his title match tonight. He's been systematically taking the Shield out and Roman's next. Tonight after he owns Roman Reigns, he'll wake up into a nightmare where the first thing he sees is Joe with his hand in his air as the NEW Intercontinental Champion.
Kane is walking backstage and mercifully, finally, we take a commercial break.
Back from commercial, Kane makes his entrance and we get a video package recounting the events that have lead to the three-way Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble.
Heath Slater gets a picture-in-picture promo about how his kids didn't have Christmas because Kurt Angle threatened his job. Rhyno then says tonight is step one in his plan to toughen Slater up.
Heath Slater vs. Kane
Collar and elbow, into the corner, Slater slips away but Kane backs him up again and fires off a few knees and right hands. Corner clothesline, side slam, and a boot sends Heath to the floor where Rhyno gives him a pep talk. Back inside and Kane goozles him and just bodily shoves him over the ropes and to the floor by his neck! Slater wants to leave and again Rhyno talks him into showing how tough he is.
Kane draws him up but Slater counters into a neck snap over the ropes, off the ropes, knee lift... and a huge slicing right sends Heath's gum flying into the stands. Goozle...
Kane wins by pinfall with a chokeslam.
Rhyno gets in the ring to tend to Slater and Kane returns. Goozle, Rhyno breaks away, shoulder thrust, calling for the Gore... but Kane catches him and chokeslams him.
Commentary hypes up our Raw Tag Team Championship match for later and we go to break.
Back from commercial and Curt Hawkins is in the ring cutting a promo about his losing streak and how the year isn't over but he feels a Christmas miracle coming on. It's an open challenge and he's got two lumps of coal with somebody's name on 'em and his 146-match losing streak will come to an end!
Enter Finn Balor!
Curt Hawkins vs. Finn Balor
Hawkins on the offensive, clubbing blows, whip across but Balor gets the boots up and clobbers him with a forearm. Dropkick in the middle of the ring, Too Sweet the crowd, chop in the corner, whip across, Curt ducks a chop, schoolboy, no good. Another schoolboy pin, nope, low superkick into an Oklahoma roll, again only a nearfall. Finn picks the legs, double stomp to the midsection!
Sling Blade follows, shotgun dropkick, Balor heads up top...
Finn Balor wins by pinfall with Coup de Grace.
Commentary hypes up our Intercontinental Championship match and we go to break.
Back from commercial and the Miztourage are backstage looking for someone to spread Mizmas cheer to when they come upon Goldust. They didn't see his Mizmas list but they can guess that he wanted a Mizmas carol! They start singing but it's a version of Deck the Halls about how Miz could help revitalize Goldust's career. They also give him a copy of Santa's Little Helper on DVD before heading on their way.
Titus Worldwide come around the corner and Goldust gives Titus O'Neal the DVD for Christmas before doing his weird bite/gasp thing in his face.
(Wyatt noise.)
Bray Wyatt is in the dark room saying that she always hated this time of year, hated the idea that supernatural rituals could propagate joy and happiness. A thought that people like Matt Hardy spread, he says he fights side by side with people but he's just using them for personal gain. Look around, Woken Warriors, you're surrounded by the darkness, by his fireflies, by HER.
He's here.
(Wyatt noise.)
Bray makes his entrance and Hardy blindsides him! Wyatt shoves him off but Matt is right on him, Twist of Fate... and Bray slips away and heads up the ramp!
Matt makes "DELETE!" fingers a bunch and gets on the mic to laugh and chortle and generally make noises.
The Bar are in the locker room complaining about Kurt Angle making them defend their tag titles at Christmas. Sheamus says he truly appreciates Cesaro, though, and he has a gift for him! Card first, mind you! Cesaro opens it and pulls out a Dean Ambrose action figure with a missing arm, and he's very excited at how authentic it is.
Of course, Cesaro got Sheamus a gift as well. Sheamus opens it and it's Seth Rollins in action figure form! Sheamus can't wait to break it like he's going to break the real Seth tonight. But wait, there's more, and Sheamus pulls out a Jason Jordan figure. Sheamus says he doesn't want it, and Cesaro points out that neither Rollins nor Angle do either, and they laugh and hug!
We get a shot of the ring crew setting up the ring for the Miracle on 34th Street Fight, which will commence after the break.
Back from commercial, Enzo Amore makes his entrance, he does the deal.
He is dressed as Santa, and Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari are his elves. Enzo wishes the crowd a merry Christmas and says they're here to spread Christmas joy to people like Cedric Alexander, who is so sad he didn't get what he wanted, the Cruiserweight Championship. So they're gonna give him and his pals a holiday beatdown because they're SAWFT or something honestly I got a little lost there.
Akira Tozawa, Cedric Alexander, & Mustafa Ali vs. Zo Train (Ariya Daivari, Drew Gulak, & Enzo Amore) (Miracle on 34th Street Fight)
Daivari and Alexander to start, Ariya backing him in the corner with punches a whip leads to flips and a headscissors to the floor. Gulak runs interference and gets a dropkick, Amore drops to the floor, Tozawa's fired up... HE AND ALI DIVE IN STEREO TO SEND US TO BREAK!

Out, tags made, Ali clearing house, whip reversed, pop-up dropkick, slide short on the hammer whip, kick from the apron, rolling thunder X-Factor! Headed up top, 054... GULAK BREAKS IT UP WITH A COOKIE SHEET!
Akira clobbers Drew with a cookie sheet, Enzo and Cedric in and the champ has a candy kendo stick but Alexander takes it away from him and holds him at... stickpoint. Sidestep the charge from Gulak and Cedric beats on him with it! Daivari tries to steal it, Cedric thinks fast, back suplex lift...
Akira Tozawa, Cedric Alexander, & Mustafa Ali win by pinfall with Lumbar Check from Alexander on Ariya Daivari.
Commentary hypes up Joe/Reigns, for after the break.
Back from commercial, Enzo Amore is walking backstage when he rolls up on Nia Jax.
They exchange holiday greetings and Enzo admits he had a rough day when he notices they're standing under mistletoe. They almost kiss when Alexa Bliss bursts through needing to talk to Nia about the Royal Rumble. Jax shrugs and leaves, both of them disappointed.
Roman Reigns is interviewed backstage. He could care less what Samoa Joe has to say because he's the champ and he's not leaving Chicago without his title. But tonight isn't about him, it's about Dean Ambrose, and it's very simple. He's sending a message to Joe-- if you hurt one of his brothers, he WILL hurt you. Merry Christmas.
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Samoa Joe (WWE Intercontinental Championship)
Reigns hard out the gates, all fists and hate, Joe firing back with jabs, overhead elbow, more jabs but Roman is able to knock him throat-first into the second rope! Headed around on the floor, Drive-By connects but back in the ring it's all Samoa as he hits a back suplex! Reigns back in with a lariat, corner lariats follow, finishing it off with the big boot.
Calling for the Superman Punch but Joe gets in the ropes and explodes out with jabs when the Big Dog comes over to try and pull him out! Back elbow / enzugiri combo in the corner, the cover gets two and we go to break.
Back from commercial and Joe is in control, drawing Reigns up for slaps to the face, jawing at him, throwing a headbutt, but off the ropes he gets caught with a Samoan drop... NOPE! Roman looking to follow with a powerbomb but Joe blocks, sunset flip instead, only two and they go on to trade rights. Samoa with knees, straight suplex, Big Dog hits the ropes... SUPERMAN PUNCH!
Looking for the spear, Joe with a knee, and he follows with the big Rock Bottom... NOT ENOUGH! Looking to draw Roman up from the apron, no dice but he gets the Coquina Clutch in when he returns to the ring! Reigns tries to get to the ropes but Samoa is able to fall back and hook it all the way in! Flagging, reaching, and Joe uses a foot to trap his arm!
The ropes reached, Roman heads to the floor... SAMOA JOE WITH THE SUICIDE DIVE AND REIGNS GOES ARM-FIRST INTO THE BARRICADE! Back in the ring, blood in the water, Joe grabs an armbar but Reigns gets to his feet with headbutts and boots in the corner. Referee John Cone backs him off, warning him but Roman won't listen...
Samoa Joe wins by disqualification.
Superman Punch in the ring, Reigns takes Joe outside, another Superman Punch, he throws him into the barricade, going full Code of Hammurabi on him here. Dismantling the steps, he picks up the top half and hammers Samoa's shoulder with them! Another shot from the steel steps! The Big Dog with a chair in hand, he follows it up but now referees and road agents (including Jamie Noble) have him surrounded and are keeping him from Joe.
Seth Rollins is watching in the locker room with a smile when Jason Jordan rolls up. Seth tells him he's doing this for two reasons-- he owes Kurt Angle a favor and he wants a piece of the Bar. All he cares about is becoming tag champion again and this can't be a situation where Jordan loses and brags about hanging with top competition because everyone in WWE is top competition.
Jordan says he's excited to team with Rollins and he'd never wish for anyone to be injured but you gotta admit he's a great replacement for Ambrose. Seth tells him no matter how good he thinks he is, he'll never be Dean Ambrose. Jason agrees and says he'll be better.
And so we go to commercial break.
Back from commercial and the Miztourage are in the ring to spread the joy of Mizmas.
Curtis Axel says they're super-excited because they have a Secret Santa Match and they don't know who they're wrestling! They exhort the crowd to sing along and launch into Jingle Bells--
(RRROOOAAARRR)
Braun Strowman vs. Miztourage (Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel) (Secret Santa Match)
Bo to start, off the ropes, Braun catches him, he floats over... and runs right into a lariat that wipes him out. Big biel out of the corner, Strowman drags Axel in and throws him into Dallas! Double leg pickup into the corner for Curtis, body avalanche for Bo, scoop him up...
Braun Strowman wins by pinfall with a running powerslam on Bo Dallas.
Braun picks Axel up... running powerslam for him as well! He considers his fallen opponents for a moment before picking Dallas up again... RUNNING POWERSLAM! Curtis up... RUNNING POWERSLAM!
Alexa Bliss is shown walking backstage to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Alexa Bliss is in the ring to give us a special Christmas gift.
The gift of a Goddess, you see. She likes to take this time to reflect, and you don't have to Google it because it's obvious but 2017 has been the year of Alexa Bliss. She started the year as SmackDown Women's Champion and ended as Raw Women's Champion and has dominated every obstacle in her way. Unlike the women in the locker room with their faces pressed against the glass ceiling, she punched right through it.
But she has to say the moment of the year was last week when Stephanie McMahon announced the women's Royal Rumble. Alexa has watched it a hundred times and still gets cold chills, so to everyone, you're welcome. Every cheer, every jeer, every moment of excitement, it's because of her. She's the gift that keeps on giving and every superstar that walks in her shadow, she'll be watching--
Enter Asuka. She gets in the ring and on the mic to declare that she's entering the women's Royal Rumble and intends to win because nobody is ready for Asuka! Alexa stares on in fear for a long beat... AND ASUKA TAKES HER HEAD OFF WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK!
Commentary hypes up our tag title main event and we go to break.
Back from commercial we're informed that Brock Lesnar will be on the show next week.
Jason Jordan & Seth Rollins vs. the Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus) (c) (WWE Raw Tag Team Championship)
Jordan and Sheamus to start, Jason taking the Celtic Warrior to the mat with a waistlock takedown but ending up in the ropes with a dirty back elbow break. Tag to Sheamus, double whip into a hip toss, blind tag from Rollins, in with a big crossbody! Duck a lariat, Sling Blade, suicide dive and we go to break.
Back from commercial and Sheamus has a top wristlock in on Seth Rollins, keeping him grounded. The Architect to his feet, reaching for the tag but Sheamus tags Cesaro and the Swiss Superman comes in with a whip into the tandem low superkicks for a two count. Grounding him with a reverse chinlock, Rollins to his feet, reaching for the tag, hoisting Cesaro onto his back and walking over but Cesaro turns it into a surfboard and whips him hard into their corner.
Tag to Sheamus, putting boots to Seth, drawing him up for the Beats of the Bodhran and, as usual of late, stopping short. Rollins throwing hands to break free, overhand rights, pounding away, crawling for the tag but the Celtic Warrior traps his foot and drags him over. Tag to Cesaro, big leg drop for two, and back to the reverse chinlock, choking the life out of Rollins.
Wristlock, tag to Sheamus, double whip into back elbows gets two, the action spills outside and Jordan tries to help but the Bar dispose of him with the assistance of the barricade! Back in, reversing Irish Curse into a DDT but there's nobody there for the tag and Seth is on his own! Cesaro with a charging uppercut to set up the Irish Curse, only good for two!
Huge knee from the apron from Sheamus gets another nearfall and Cesaro calls for it before making the tag. Off the ropes, flapjack Swiss Death... NOPE! Cesaro back in, he runs into a boot, Rollins gets an enzuigiri, Jordan makes the save with a lariat to Sheamus before he can get a powerbomb off! In position for the tag, Cesaro trying to block but Rollins kicks him off, tags made!
Jordan in hot, big dropkick knocks Cesaro off, forearms for Sheamus, double leg pickups corner-to-corner stampede style and he's fired up! Running shoulder thrust, overhead belly-to-belly suplex... NOT ENOUGH! Cesaro trying to block a followup, Celtic Warrior with a schoolboy to no avail but the lariat the follows devastates Jordan! Demolition Decapitation. NO GOOD!
Cesaro follows the nearfall up by locking the Sharpshooter on in the middle of the ring! Rollins comes around, pulls Sheamus off the apron and makes the save, forcing Cesaro to dump him back outside. Jordan thinking fast, small package nearfall and Cesaro is on him hard with mounted punches! Tag to Sheamus, powerbomb / lariat combo, Seth diving lariat, caught by Cesaro!
Match breaking down, no count on the powerbomb, Sheamus grabs the cloverleaf on Jason! Middle of the ring, Kurt Angle's biological son crawling and he makes the ropes! Celtic Warrior calling for it, tag made, fireman's carry, thinking assisted White Noise but Rollins runs interference and they have to settle for the normal White Noise! Seth runs Sheamus around and into the steps, Cesaro with the save with the uppercut but when he comes back in the ring Jordan is ready for him.
Jason Jordan & Seth Rollins win by pinfall with the back suplex neckbreaker from Jordan on Cesaro, winning the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship.
Jordan and Rollins celebrate together.
That's the show, folks.
